Amari Brown
Fellow at the Southern Education Leadership Initiative
Amari Brown is a 2026 Southern Education Leadership Initiative (SELI) Fellow, and a rising senior at Spelman College. She is majoring in Sociology and Anthropology on the pre-law track, with a minor in Comparative Women's Studies. She is passionate about education, law, and social justice, and is especially interested in how policy impacts youth, families, and underserved communities. Through academic work, research, and leadership experiences, Amari has developed a strong interest in education equity, advocacy, and mentorship.
Outside of school, Amari serves as Senior Director of Rising Kings and Queens at Destined for Greatness Outreach Youth Center, where she helps lead mentorship and leadership development programs for the youth. She is actively involved in several organizations on and off campus and enjoys supporting students, whether at Spelman or in the K-12 curriculum, as they grow in confidence, purpose, and leadership. In her free time, she enjoys reading, exploring Atlanta, trying new restaurants and coffee shops, and spending time with family and friends. After graduation, she plans to attend law school and pursue a career in family law or education policy, where she can continue advocating for youth and families.
